Good Sunday morning everyone! Since the Christmas season is getting close (at least according to Wal-Mart) I thought I would share a great “gift” giving idea for you guys, one that will touch your heart and the life of a child in need. Just over a year ago my family and I became the loving sponsors of two children in India through….
Sanket and Arpita. We support them not only financially but also through prayer. At each dinner we eat together we take a minute to pray for both of them and their families. We realize how blessed we are (in many ways) and we pray that they will also be blessed through Jesus. Their pictures hang on our kitchen wall. When we receive letters from Sanket and Arpita we all read and enjoy them. It’s really a wonderful way to show our children a true example of how to reach out to the world in Jesus name, and the pictures and letters make a more tangible idea for the kids. Jesus said:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Loving and supporting people you know and love is awesome, but how about loving and supporting someone you don’t know and may never met? Someone who may never share in the financial and freedoms we have here in the USA.
….‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
You can choose your sponsor child by birthdate, age, gender and even country. We we brought together with our “children” though a sponsor drive at our church, but you can go right on-line to find your special someone at Compassion International.
What a beautiful gift to give yourself, your spouse or your whole family. I hope you will pray about it and consider becoming a sponsor, you won’t be disappointed.
Have a great week!
