Motivational Monday – February 23, 2015 How God Speaks to Us

I read a wonderful article on about the 8 Ways God Speaks to Us Today”” and thought the main points would make a wonderful Motivational Monday.  I highly recommend heading over and reading it for yourself.  (BTW: I am in no way affiliated with

He (God) speaks to us in so many different ways but most of the time we are just too busy to realize it.  He can be found in the obvious places like The Bible to some of the most obscure if we just take a moment to look, to listen, to observe.  Lets make it our goal to try to listen for Him this week.

Lent Faith and Fitness Challenge

I have to admit the basis of this idea was not entirely mine.  A group I belong to on Facebook was discussing how we would be celebrating the season of Lent.  The idea of a passage a day was passed around and I told her I thought it was a wonderful idea and then “ran” with it 😉  Thus was born the idea of:


I picked Psalms and Proverbs (but if your more comfortable reading another part of the bible PLEASE do! Our goal is to get into His Word.)  I just felt like for those who might be pressed for time but want to participate, Psalms and Proverbs are both insightful, thought-provoking and a great resource to ponder over during your workout.

Read one verse per day, common I know you can 🙂 , and throughout your workout reflect upon what you have read.  I am sure your mind with wander to other things during your workout but try to refocus and bring your heart back to what you have read.  Believe me I know mine mind wanders all the time….oh look a kitten!

Motivational Monday – Time and Patience

Good things come to those who wait and all great achievements really do require time and effort.  In our modern high-tech world we are always in a mad dash for the here and now.  We stumble over each other, and sometimes even ourselves, trying to get or to achieve what we want, when we want it. (which is usually right now!) We want to be the best, the fastest, the one who gets there first.

Although the modern world has brought us so many magnificent things that help make life easier (and faster) we many times lose sight of the fact that great things, truly great things, are worth our time, effort and patience.


Ecclesiastes 7:8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.

Year of the Peeps – Do you believe in New Years Resolutions?

This year I am trying something a little different on the Facebook page and Blog.  Each month I will post a “Question of the Month” for all you “peeps”.  You know “PEEPS”, you guys, amigos, buddies, etc.  Throughout the month I will throw out some reminders on the FB page.

I will do my best to blog responses in a timely manner.  My plan is the first week of the following month but hey I have commitment issues 😉  (actually no I have life, family and crazy schedule issues, hehe)

Any who……..I have dubbed this year:

Year of the Peeps


January 2015’s question was “Do you believe in New Years resolutions?  Why or why not?”  I got a lot of mixed answers to this question.  Some peeps use them as motivation to learn something new, some don’t believe in them at all.  Here’s what you guys had to say:

Helen M:  ” I believe in them and have kept many of them. Learn to swim, stop smoking, start running are just a few from the past. This year it is run a marathon. Signed up for First one in May.”     (wahoo Go Helen!!!)

Kristi K:  “I believe we shouldn’t wait for New years to better ourselves. But for some people they need the mental support of other starting their journeys at the same time. I have never kept a resolution, maybe that’s why I think they don’t work!”  (I also believe if you have support of others that definitely helps!)

Tiffany B: Yes and I know, it’s good to set goals and stick to them. Yet you shouldn’t wait do to it once a year. Be your best all year-long!!!”  ( I also agree Tiffany!  Have different goals throughout the year is an awesome idea!)

Aimee P:  “I do! I think they are a fun way to motivate many aspects of your life!”  (motivation is the key to improvement!)

Kristy R: “I don’t do resolutions BC I feel like they are setting up for failure, I choose to do one word that I focus on in all areas of my life throughout the year. One year was healing, one was consistency, I’m still working on this years.”(This year I have chosen to go the same route as Kristy.  My word for 2015 is “Balance”)

Motivational Monday Feb 2, 2015 – Hope in a Whisper

I have been struggling lately with a slight case of “the blues”.  I wouldn’t call it depression, a slight sadness maybe, but I have just not felt fully “well” lately.  It’s not so much a physical thing as an emotional one.  Although sometimes one lies like a companion to the other, if only in our minds.

Maybe you have been there?  One of those times when you can’t quite put my finger on the underlying reason behind your melancholy.   Nothing terrible has happened in my life, no death, no major illness, etc. just a weighty feeling of sadness.  In the past I may have given into the feelings or my “funk” and pulled away from family, groups and even God.  But today I am pursuing a much more constructive way to deal with my feelings.  I am diving into the word and the arms of Jesus.  Spending extra time in His quietness and peace.  It may be possible that this is exactly what He is asking of me, to spend quality time with Him.  Maybe I just haven’t been listening.

Today in my daily devotional I read about the approach God sometimes uses to speak to us in the “shadows of life”.   For there are times that is the only place certain lessons can be learned.  And recently my small group has started the study “The Power of a Whisper”.   Coincidence?  I think not.   Its God’s perfect timing!  Spending more time with Him to hear his whisper might just be exactly what I need.  So today I hold on to these scriptures:

Psalm 42:5  Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
